Awhile ago I read an article about a retro Sesame Street DVD that was about to release. The article explained the DVD would have a parental advisory placed on the front. Skits such as the old Masterpiece Theater Cookie Monster are no longer aired on PBS as it shows him smoking a pipe. This along with other skits are no longer considered wholesome entertainment for kids. Big Bird cannot question reality with visions of a brown fuzzy elephants. Kids can no longer make fun of Oscar because he is manic. Bert and Ernie and their questionable living arrangements has been toned down. Sure enough as i was wondering through Best Buy a couple of months ago the DVD was there and it did warn me of the questionable content. My TV entertainment consciousness began with Sesame Street, as did most people my age. The thought behind these drawings was the idea of taking all these bad characteristics of the old Sesame Street and redesigning the looks accordingly.
That's F'n awesome. And really what makes it so, is that the eye "whites" and pupils are inverted. If not for that, it'd just be regular old cookie monster. But this is scary... and if it wasn't, it wouldn't have caught my eye.
